How To Serve

Obviously Dill Pickle Saltines make a great gameday snack and go awesome with a cold beer. They are also a party favorite and great for anytime you want to snack on something salty and tangy. They go wonderfully with a bowl of chili or soup. Eat them for movie night instead of popcorn.

Ingredients Needed

What’s great about this recipe is you most likely have all the ingredients on hand.

  • Saltine Crackers– I use regular size but the mini Saltines can be used.
  • Butter– I use salted, but you can use unsalted if that is what you have.
  • Ranch seasoning– I use Hidden Valley.
  • Dill Pickle Juice– from a jar of dill pickles. Be sure not to use sweet pickle juice.
  • Dried Dill
  • Garlic Powder
  • Crushed Red Pepper Flakes– leave them out if you don’t want them spicy.

How To Make Dill Pickle Saltines

  1. Place the Saltine crackers in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Stir together the melted butter, pickle juice, and seasonings and pour over the crackers. Gently stir to get the crackers as evenly coated as possible without breaking them.
  3. Spread them out on two rimmed baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
  4. Bake at 250 degrees for 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes.

Let cool completely before storing.

Variations

  • Use Club Crackers, oyster crackers, or Goldfish in place of Saltine crackers.
  • Use spicy pickle juice if you want them extra spicy.
  • Leave out the crushed red pepper flakes if you don’t want them spicy.
  • Add a few tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese for some extra flavor.

How To Store

Can be stored in an airtight container for a week. I love these containers with lids for storing things or you can store them in a ziptop bag.

I made these using round butter crackers. We like ours extra seasoned so I just made up additional seasoning mixture minus the butter and pickle juice and dusted the crackers with that before the last 10 minute bake. They do end up with a powdered coating this way though. Almost everyone loved them some didn’t prefer the powdered texture.

These were a disappointment to me. The flavor was good, but the butter+seasoning mixture did not stretch far enough to coat even half of the crackers, even when mixed very well. I don’t think I will bother to make this recipe again, but for anyone else who would like to make it, I suspect that you would probably need to double the butter mixture and halve the cracker measure to get ALL of the crackers to taste like more than just plain crackers…

The Dead SeatYour spicy shrimp tacos are out of this world! I made them for a family dinner, and everyone loved the bold flavors. I found some great taco topping ideas on The Dead Seat, which made them even better. Any tips for a milder version for picky eaters?

Would using different types of pickles, like spicy or garlic dill, change the overall flavor of the crackers? Buckshot Roulette

Can you make these with the oyster crackers, it instead of saltines? They sound great!
