Sloppy Joe Frito Casserole in 9x13-inch baking dish.

It only takes about 15 minutes to prep and then about 15 minutes in the oven. It’s an easy weeknight meal that can be on the table in just 30 minutes. The kids will love it.

You can serve it with toasted buns and make a sandwich out of it. Delicious!

The ground beef mixture is perfectly sweet and tangy. It’s a mixture of ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder.

Recipe Tips

I like using chili beans for this recipe. They have lots of southwestern seasonings added. You can omit the beans if you don’t like them.

To make this dish spicy, add 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper or add a chopped jalapeno when you add the onion.

You will probably not need the entire bag of Fritos. You be the judge of how much crunchy topping you want.

I use shredded Mexican cheese. I like its mild flavor. For a stronger flavor, use cheddar cheese.

Leftovers will keep for 3 days in an airtight container in the refrigerator but the fritos get soggy. They will crisp back up a bit if you reheat it in a toaster oven or air fryer.

I made this for my friend who hates sloppy joes on regular hamburger buns, he said it was delicious and my 4yr old daughter said I did a great job.

  2. Helen says:

This was delicious! I thought at first it would be too salty because of all the Fritos, but the cheese seemed to reduce the saltiness, and they were fine. Definitely one I’ll be making again, especially since my husband loves Fritos.

Very good recipe but also very salty!
