Nutella Banana Pudding is one of the best banana pudding variations. Made with chocolate hazelnut spread and oreo cookies, this is not your ordinary banana pudding.

So delicious you may find yourself favoring it to traditional banana pudding. Super quick and easy to make with instant pudding and Cool Whip.

Ingredients Needed

  • 2 Boxes (3.4-ounce) instant vanilla pudding mix– be sure to get instant and NOT the Cook & Serve kind.
  • Whole Milk
  • Heavy Cream
  • Nutella
  • Oreo Cookies
  • 5 Ripe Bananas
  • 4 to 5 cups Cool Whip
  • Roasted Hazelnuts
Oreos placed on top of pudding in trifle bowl.

How To Make Nutella Banana Pudding

  1. Beat together vanilla pudding mix, milk, and heavy cream. Until it starts to thicken. May take a few minutes.
  2. Beat in Nutella.
  3. Layer the cookies, banana slices, and pudding mix, doing 3 layers of cookies, 3 layers of banana, and 2 layers of pudding.
  4. Top with Cool Whip.
  5. Refrigerate at least 4 hours.
  6. Top with hazelnuts and serve.

Make Ahead

Banana Pudding should be made at least 4 to 8 hours in advance. This gives time for the banana flavor to permeate the pudding and the cookies to get a little soft.

Use Ripe, But NOT Overripe Bananas

Banana Pudding is best made with bananas that have turned yellow, but have not started to turn black. Overripe bananas will be overpowering in flavor and will turn brown quicker than just ripe bananas.

Recipe Tips

  • If you don’t have a hand-held electric mixer, you can use a whisk to mix the ingredients together.
  • I like to use a trifle dish like this one to assemble this banana pudding. As an alternative, you can assemble it in a glass bowl.

Variations

Instead of using Oreo Cookies, use Nilla Wafers or Nutter Butter Cookies.

Use instant chocolate pudding instead of vanilla for a more intense chocolate flavor.

How To Store

Wrap well with plastic wrap and it can be refrigerated for 3 days. Best eaten within 48 hours.
