Mashed Potato Green Bean Casserole

Mashed Potato Green Bean Casserole is a delicious combination of two of my favorite Thanksgiving sides. On the bottom, a creamy layer of mashed potatoes covered by a cheesy green bean casserole.

Each one tastes incredible on its own, but even better when combined into one extraordinary side.

I’ve yet to meet a kid who doesn’t like mashed potatoes and I love how versatile Simply Potatoes Traditional Mashed Potatoes are. They are delicious as is or in your favorite recipes and so much fun to use to create fun, unique recipes like this Mashed Potato Green Bean Casserole.

Since most of the work is done for you, you can quickly and easily transform them into Cheesy Bacon Mashed Potatoes or make a weeknight Shepherd’s Pie in no time at all. The options are endless.

But I think you’re really going to love the way a layer of Green Bean Casserole (with cheddar cheese no less!) tastes on top of these mashed potatoes. I use fresh green beans, but you can use canned, plus a can of cream of mushroom soup, a little milk and soy sauce, and lots of French fried onions.

Trust me when I say if you’re a fan of green beans casserole and you like mashed potatoes (who doesn’t?) you are going to love this Mashed Potato Green Bean Casserole!

I’m a fan of traditional mashed potatoes, but gravy and LOTS of black pepper are a must!

  2. I like to make loaded mashed potatoes sort of like loaded baked potatoes. I add: cheese, milk/cream, sour cream, chives, butter, and bacon.

  3. These potatoes have some real razzle dazzle! I could pretty much just have mashed potatoes for supper, and you’re getting me one step closer to actually being able to call them a meal and get away with it. Because people make meals out of sides, right? I wouldn’t just be eating potatoes anymore. ?

  4. A little cream, a fair amount of butter and a sprinkle of salt and I’m set! Especially if there’s fresh turkey gravy to ladle over them.

  5. Thanks for the giveaway and great recipe. Unfortunately, I do know a kid who doesn’t like mashed potatoes and for the life of me, I can’t figure out why. I’ve tried them every kid friendly way you can imagine. Anyway, I like to add roasted garlic to my mashed potatoes. Since the munchkin won’t eat them, I only make them for the grown ups and we like lots of garlic, lol.
