Crescent Rolls

Crescent rolls are one of my favorite ingredients to use in the kitchen, both for sweet recipes and savory recipes. Try these Crescent Beef Burritos, Peach Crescent Dumplings or Crescent Roll Coffee Cake .

What Kind Of Apples To Use

You want to use an apple that stands up well to baking. I most like to use Granny Smith apples. Their tartness goes really well with the sweetness of the sugar. Honeycrisp and Gala apples work well too.

How To Make

  1. Combine the brown sugar and cinnamon in a ziptop bag. Add apple slices and shake to coat.
Apple slices on pieces of crescent dough.
  2. Wrap a piece of crescent dough around each apple piece and place in prepared baking dish. Sprinkle any extra cinnamon-sugar on top.
    Unbaked dumplings in baking dish.
  3. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile whisk together sugar, heavy cream, an egg, and almond extract.
  5. Pour over crescent rolls and bake another 12 to 18 minutes.

Variations

  • Use vanilla extract instead of almond.
  • Use walnuts or pecans in place of almonds.
  • Add 1/3 cup of toffee bits.

Recipe Tip

The top of the casserole might start to get too brown before the center is done. If this is the case, cover with foil. It will prevent any more browning.

How To Store

Can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
