Ingredients Needed

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • Pepper, garlic powder, dried thyme, and crushed red pepper flakes– for seasoning.
  • Bacon– 8 slices cooked and crumbled.
  • 2 Packets Gravy Mix
  • Heavy Cream

How To Make Slow Cooker Chicken with Bacon Gravy

  1. Place chicken in a 6-quart slow cooker.
  2. Sprinkle seasonings and bacon over chicken.
  3. Whisk together gravy mix and water and pour over chicken.
  4. Cover and cook on LOW for 4 to 5 hours.
  5. Add heavy cream and cover and cook another 10 minutes. Serve.

How To Serve

Serve over white rice or mashed potatoes with a side of Southern-Style Green Beans or Buttery Peas and Mushrooms. Also goes great with Old-Fashioned Cabbage Casserole or Cracker Barrel Baby Limas.

Can I Use Chicken Thighs?

Yes! You can use boneless, skinless chicken thighs. I recommend using 6. Cook them for 1 hour longer than chicken breasts.

Recipe Tips

  • I don’t recommend cooking chicken breasts on HIGH in a slow cooker. They are too likely to get overcooked and chewy and dry in texture.
  • Make it a little or a lot spicy. Add just a pinch of red pepper flakes for a touch of heat. Add half a teaspoon to make it spicy.

Storage

Will keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 4 days and can be frozen for up to 2 months.

  • In a small bowl, whisk together chicken gravy mix and water. Pour into slow cooker.
  • Cover and cook on LOW for 4 to 5 hours.
  • Add heavy cream. Cover and cook another 10 minutes to warm.
