Tips For Making Microwave Pralines

  • Different microwaves may require different cooking time. Cooking times given are an estimate. You may find you need to microwave for a shorter or longer time.
  • Use a large bowl. The mixture will boil up some and you don’t want it to overflow.
  • When you stir the mixture, it should begin to change color and start to look creamy. It will also thicken. If not, it needs to be microwaved longer. Return it to the microwave for another 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Be very careful when removing the bowl from the microwave. It will be very hot.
  • You must scoop the pralines out onto the baking sheet very quickly. The mixture will start to thicken and harden rapidly.

  1. Thanks for the great recipe! This was so easy! I can’t eat pecans so I added almonds & walnuts.
    They taste so good!!
    Thanks again!

  2. Getting ready to make-looks great!

How long can I store these and what is the best way to store them?

    Thanks and Merry Christmas

I don’t know what went wrong but I followed directions, but I couldn’t even bite into one of them they were so hard.
    It was a real bummer!

I use a mixer to beat it or wisk before adding pecans, until it starts to thicken a little (like you would fudge)makes a softer, creamier Pralines

  4. I really want to try this in the next couple of days, after the rain has past. Question: I have a big bag of Brown Sugar, and to measure 2 cups, Should I pack each cup ? This recipe looks easy and delicious. I’ve been looking for one like yours. Thanks so very much. I’m checking out some of your other recipes you offer. I think I will enjoy your recipes. I’m just not a good cook or baker. I love simple.

My mixture was very thin, I may need to increase cooking time, I did the 7 and 5 minutes. My microwave is 900 watts

  6. I absolutely love this recipe. After experimenting a few times I discovered that if I added about 2Tbsp of half & half to the first step, the mixture didn’t set up so fast and allowed more time to drop onto the paper.

  7. Very easy to make. One secret though is to be prepared with all ingredients as you do need to work quickly as the candy sets up in just a minute or so. Pralines turned out just like the picture-golden brown and creamy. I did make a time adjustment because of my microwave’s wattage. I also used a microwave proof mixing/meausring bowl with a handle. The handle remained cool but the bowl itself was very hot. Really enjoyed this simple recipe.

  9. Fast and delicious. Turned out great. Use to make over stove but this is my new pecan praline recipe

  10. These sounded so easy so I gave them a try. I followed the directions exactly and my pralines came out hard as rocks. I do want to try them again but will definitely cut down the cooking time.
