Instant Pot Country Style Ribs- you won’t believe how tender and flavorful country-style ribs cooked in a pressure cooker are. Wonderfully juicy and slathered in bbq sauce. These ribs have lots of smokiness.

Country-style ribs are one of my favorite cuts of meat.

What are Country-Style Ribs?

They technically aren’t ribs at all. They are cut from the end of the loin near the pork shoulder and contain small pieces of shoulder blade. Compared to ribs, they are almost all meat. I find they have just the right amount of fat and cook up wonderfully ten

Country-Style Ribs are deicious baked in the oven, but so much better made in the pressure cooker. So tender, juicy and moist. Cooking them in the pressure cooker greatly reduces the cooking time.

Tips for making:

  • This 6-quart Instant Pot is perfect for cooking countrys style ribs.
  • Use your favorite bbq sauce for this recipe. I like one thats thick, smoky, and both sweet and spicy.
  • I like to give the ribs a quick broil at the end after slathering them with bbq sauce.

I followed the basics and it came out GREAT!!! I tweaked the rub and I am not a fan of liquid smoke, I prefer to get my smoke from a charcoal grill BUT the basics for this recipe are SOLID! Obviously, if you don’t have a grill or the time to wait for the charcoal to be ready then sure, cheat with the liquid smoke but it’s still cheating!!! Hahahaha ENJOY!

I use 2lbs or a bit less and set the pressure cooker for 30 min, but only let the natural release for 5 min or so, then quick release.

Thank you for this comment. I was wondering what cook time was best for less than 2 pounds!!

  3. Todd B says:

I skipped the broil at end — didn’t want to heat up the kitchen, and I was hungry! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    These turned out great!

Lindi, assuming you have the same Instant pot that we have, the rack that comes with it is just to keep your food from touching the bottom of the pot and to give handles to assist with removing food from the pot. It isn’t designed to hold food above other food. Although, you may have a more fancy Instant Pot that does actually come with shelves LOL. It is fine to stack the ribs on top of each other but not in excess.

Such a simple wonderful recipe…I’m new to the Instant Pot world and am using it for every dinner, probably until the novelty wears off. I used Aldi’s Texas BBQ sauce. My husband loved it. Served it with Instant Pot Mac and cheese and a big salad. It was wonderful.

  7. Nancy says:

I have made these ribs several times. I used Jack Daniels pork rub and refrigerated ribs over night. Also used apple juice instead of beef broth for a bit more flavor. Broiled using Sweet Baby Rayโ€™s.
    Delicious!!!

This is the way to cook your ribs itโ€™s fast and makes them fall apart, and taste great, plus you can put you a timer in line with your instant pot and have your food ready to eat when you get home from work,itโ€™s the best thing I ever bought for the kitchen!!! Happy cooking !!!

  8. Tim says:

Will this work for both beef and pork ribs? I assume it does. I like pork ribs better.
This recipe sounds so delicioius. I am going to make it in the next couple of days after I finish the leftovers I have in the refrigerator.

  9. Denise says:

Has anyone tried this recipe with bone-in ribs?

    1. Kim Smith says:

I do bone in spare ribs all of the time. Same liquid, beef or chicken broth plus a little liquid smoke and a little bbq sauce, stir. 30 min, then quick release. Baste with bbq sauce and broil for a few min. My husband loves them!

  10. Michael M says:

      1. Lisa H. says:

This is the second time making these. They are in the pot now. Gonna have left over pasta salad as a side. Just me and Hubby so I scale things down. I had two different BBQ sauces in the fridge so I combined them. Sticky fingers Carolina and local Brooks 51.

    2. Laurie H says:

I cook 2 lbs of pork ribs at 30 min plus 5 min natural release then quick release.
