Hot Dog Chili

Hot Dog Chili is the perfect topping for your grilled hot dogs at your next cookout. Also goes great on burgers!

This chili is easy to make and tastes so much better than canned chili.

How To Serve Hot Dog Chili

I love a Chili Slaw Dog so I add a scoop of Buttermilk Coleslaw to my chili dogs. I also like to add a little ketchup and mustard and some finely diced onion. Some people like to add shredded cheddar cheese instead of coleslaw. For some heat, top with pickled jalapeno slices.

How To Get Ground Beef Finely Broken Up

An easy trick to getting the beef in really small pieces is to boil it in water. Warning– It will smell very unpleasant but really does the trick.

Fine Texture

This chili is plenty meaty with no beans. The ground beef is broken into very small pieces in Hot Dog Chili, making it easy to eat on a hot dog.

Storage

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 4 to 5 days or freeze for up to 2 months. You can easily double or triple the recipe to make a big batch.

Touch Of Sweetness

My Hot Dog Chili has a touch of sweetness from brown sugar. You can leave the sugar out if you wish but typically chili for hot dogs has some sweetenss to it.

Make It Spicy

I typically don’t add any heat to the chili I put on hot dogs. This chili is flavored with chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, and a little oregano. You can add a pinch or two of cayenne pepper if you want it spicy.
