Orange-Glazed Pork Loin is coated in a sweet glaze with a little spice. A great recipe for a special meal. It can easily serve 6 people.

Easy To Make

The pork is first seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic powder, ground ginger and either dried thyme or rosemary. It is roasted in a 350 degree oven for 45 minutes. While it is roasting, make the simple orange glaze by combining a cup of orange juice, some light brown sugar, Dijon mustard, soy sauce, and crushed red pepper flakes. Add a mixture of water and cornstarch to thicken the glaze so it coats the pork well. Bring the glaze to a simmer to thicken it and then set it aside until the pork has cooked for 45 minutes.

Brush the pork with glaze, then let it continue roasting until it reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees F. Baste the pork again and then let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing it.

How Long Does It Take To Cook A Pork Roast?

It’s very important not to overcook pork because the pork gets dry and chewy. But you also don’t want to undercook pork. Pork is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees. Keep in mind that the temperature will continue to rise a few degrees after you take the pork out of the oven, so I aim to take it out around 143 degrees.

Choosing A Pork Loin

Be sure you use a pork loin and not a pork tenderloin. A pork loin is thick and wide with a layer of fat on top. They usually weigh between 3 and 5 pounds. Pork loins take about 20 to 25 minutes per pound to cook. If you use a 4 to 5 pound pork loin, plan on increasing the cooking time.

Recipe Tip

Take the pork loin out of the refrigerator 30 minutes beforehand for more even cooking.

Storage

Leftovers will keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days and can be reheated in the microwave.

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme or 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 (3 to 3 1/2-pound) boneless pork loin

Glaze

  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine first 5 ingredients in a small bowl. Pat pork loin dry with paper towels.
Rub spice mixture all over pork and place pork fat side up in a roasting pan.
  • Roast for 45 minutes.
Meanwhile make glaze. Combine orange juice, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, soy sauce, and red pepper flakes in a small saucepan.
Stir together water and cornstarch in a small bowl. Add to saucepan.
  • Bring mixture to a simmer, whisking constantly. Once thickened, remove from heat. If it gets too thick, add more water.
  • Once pork has roasted for 45 minutes, baste it with glaze. Continue roasting until it reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees. This should take about 15 to 30 additional minutes.
  • When pork is fully cooked, brush it with more glaze and let rest 10 minutes before slicing. Serve it with any remaining glaze.
