Easy Fireball Apple Dumplings- apple slices are wrapped in crescent dough and baked in a brown sugar/butter mixture until golden.
The Fireball Whiskey gives them a little spicy cinnamon flavor.
Quick and Easy Fall Dessert
Just about 15 minutes of prep and then 35 minutes in the oven is all it takes to make this delicious apple dessert.
Ingredients Needed
- Apples- I recommend using Granny Smith apples for this recipe, but you can substitute another apple like MacIntosh, Pink Lady, or Jonagold.
- Crescent Dough– you will need an 8-count can of crescent dough.
- Butter– I use salted butter, but unsalted is fine.
- Sugar– You will use both granulated sugar and brown sugar.
- Fireball Whiskey- adds some warmth and extra cinnamon flavor.
- Cinnamon– a little cinnamon gets sprinkled on top for extra fall flavor.
How To Make Fireball Apple Dumplings
- Cut apple into 8 wedges. If apple is small, cut up 2 apples and use 2 wedges per dumplings.
- Separate crescent dough into 8 triangles and wrap a piece around each apple piece. Place in baking dish.
- Make butter sauce. Heat butter, water, granulated sugar, and brown sugar in a saucepan until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat, stir in whiskey, and pour over dumplings.
- Combine cinnamon sugar mixture and sprinkle on top.
- Bake for 35 to 40 minutes.
How To Serve
Best served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or some fresh whipped cream.
Storage
Best eaten right away. The texture will change overtime as the dough absorbs more of the liquid. Can be kept in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 days.
