This Doctored Cake Mix White Sheet Cake recipe turns a box of cake mix into a deliciously moist sheet cake with a homemade taste and fluffy texture.
Flavored with a little almond extract and finished with a cream cheese icing, it makes a great dessert for special occasions. The extra ingredients added to the cake mix make it taste wonderfully homemade. Starting with a box of cake mix is like having insurance. You’re taking something good and turning it into something much better.
The addition of buttermilk, sour cream, vanilla extract, and almond extract builds up the flavor and hides the taste of the cake mix that some people find so off-putting. The sour cream is the ingredient that really elevates the cake, adding lots of moisture. I also love the addition of almond extract. You just want to use a little. Almond extract is very intense and can be overpowering.
