Pepper Jelly Margarita

Pepper Jelly Margaritas are a southern-style Margarita made with green pepper jelly- one of my favorite condiments. The sweet and tangy pepper jelly turns it into a sweet heat treat.

When it comes to a homemade cocktail, you really can’t go wrong with a Margarita.

With its green color, Pepper Jelly Margaritas are the perfect margarita for Christmas.

The recipe, which is from the November  2012 issue of Southern Living Magazine, is an easy mixture of tequila, lime juice, orange liqueur (I use Triple Sec or Cointreau), powdered sugar, and green pepper jelly.

The only hard part is squeezing all the limes.

And I don’t know what it is, but lately every time I make Margaritas, I forget to salt the rims. I’m going to remember next time, I promise.

For Pepper Jelly, I like to use Braswell’s Jelly Green Pepper. You can spread the leftover pepper jelly on a block of cream cheese for an easy appetizer or snack.

Pepper Jelly Margarita

Pepper Jelly Margaritas are a southern-style Margarita made from green pepper jelly. The sweet and tangy pepper jelly gives them a nice sweet heat.
SERVINGS: 4

Ingredients

  • 1 cup tequila
  • 1 cup lime juice
  • 1/2 cup orange liqueur, I use Triple Sec or Cointreau
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup green pepper jelly

Instructions

  • Place all ingredients in a large pitcher and stir with a whisk until sugar and pepper jelly are dissolved.
  • Fill cocktail shaker with ice and pour desired amount of Margarita mixture into shaker. Cover with lid and shake well for about 30 seconds. Strain into chilled glasses with salted rims and serve.
