With this simple Spicy Tomato Cream Pasta Sauce, you can have a delicious meal on the table in just a matter of minutes. It involves adding a few ingredients to your favorite spaghetti sauce to turn it into creamy, spicy heaven. Toss it in with some angel hair pasta which I love because it cooks up so fast.
There’s something about pasta sauces with cream that I can’t resist. I’m sure I’m not the only one. Penne alla Vodka? Yes please!
Tonight we are going to Mama Ricotta’s in Charlotte as an early birthday celebration for me. I always get the Penne alla Vodka with Sausage. Every time. It’s so comforting, with plenty of spice. If I’m being a good girl, I bring half of it home for lunch the next day.
When I want a creamy pasta at home, this Spicy Tomato Cream Pasta can’t be beat. It couldn’t be easier. Cook some diced onion and garlic in a little oil until sauce, add some cream, basil, and a jar of your favorite pasta sauce. Since I like some spice I add some red pepper flakes but you could leave them out. Add 1/4 teaspoon for a little spice and 1/2 teaspoon for a lot of heat. Let simmer until all the flavors come together. Toss it with some cooked pasta and you’re ready to eat.
Serve Spicy Tomato Cream Pasta with a green salad and some crusty bread for a quick weeknight meal on a super busy day.

I doubled the recipe and made it with 1lb ground beef and 1lb ground sweet sausage. Family loved it and I have hard to please kiddos. Winner! Thanks for the quick and easy recipe.
Easy to make and delicious.
So quick and easy and absolutely delicious!! I decided at the last minute to make dinner, had all the ingredients in my house, and it was ready in 10-minutes. My husband especially loved the spiciness of it. Thank you for this wonderful recipe!! It will be a staple from now on.
So I’m only rating this now, but I’ve been making this for my family for a few years now. It’s our favorite go-to pasta recipe and all of the ingredients are now staples so that I can whip it up whenever I want. I usually go directly by the recipe because it always turns out great, but it’s a very forgiving recipe, and I’ve also thrown together kitchen sink versions on the fly.
My husband and I made this for our wedding buffet and it was amazing! We left out the red pepper flakes because I don’t do heat. We had a lot of compliments on this dish. Our wedding is was on 11/08/15 and for our 6th wedding anniversary I’m going to make it again. Thanks for sharing this wonderful recipe
Kinda close to your recipe, but didn’t have heavy cream, so used couple tablespoons of cream cheese and milk. Added some diced tomatoes, and extra garlic. All in all, it was very good, and bf said it’s a winner after having 2 helpings!!
I love your idea of using cream cheese and milk I place of the cream. I don’t keep cream on hand but usually have the other two. I will try your idea next time.I realize the taste will be a little different than using cream but we’ll worth the try.
We would appreciate a receipt for Southern Gumbo
Such a wonderful recipe! Especially nice during these times when it is harder to find meat! Love your site! Thanks for all you do!
I made this tonight as a side dish with baked chicken. Everyone loved it! It is a keeper!
Thanks so much for sharing this recipe.
I prepared the Spicy Tomato pasta and accompanied by roast chicken as well!
FABULOUS!!!
This was super delicious not heavy like normal
Pastas although I love any type of pasta. Definitely making this again and again.
This was amazing. Doubled the amount of chilli flakes, but other than that perfect. made it with a jar of costco garlic, olive oil, and basil tomato sauce.
This is delicious and a saver on busy weeknights. I use peeled plum tomatoes instead of jar sauce, a lot more salt, basil, oregano, a little cube of rock sugar (to counterbalance the acidity from the tomatoes), and a lot more red chili flakes! My hubby loves it too. Thanks!
This is such an easy and delicious recipe! I make it once a week!
My husband loves this recipe! I add a can of diced tomatoes to make it a little more chunky and crab meat. So good and so quick and easy.
I would love to see a picture and adding tomatoes sounds good. Thanks!

Thanks so much for letting me know Maggie. So frustrating!
I made this for dinner tonight and added ground beef and i didn’t have cream on hand but i did have sour cream. So i used that.
It came out so delicious everyone noticed a difference in the sauce i was super excited😃
Instead of heavy cream could I use half and half?
Like the previous poster, my husband isn’t a big fan of spaghetti but he loved this. I had to use the minimum amount of pepper flakes because I’m the spicy lover between the both of us but I did add garlic smoked sausage and sautéed them with the onion and oil first. And used Prego’s roasted garlic and herb sauce which was already in my cabinet. Horrible for my calorie counting diet but an amazing comfort food. With it, I made a basic garlic bread where I spooned melted butter, cayenne pepper, garlic salt, and Italian seasoning on bread and broiled it on high by eye. It was perfect together! Thank you for this spiced up recipe!
Sounds like you and your husband had a wonderful meal! 🙂
Can you use somthing else than pasta sauce. Maybe smooth like tomato passata.
Regards chris
