Slow Cooker Pineapple Upside Down Cake

Slow Cooker Pineapple Upside Down Cake is a gorgeous cake isn’t it? So golden with bright red cherries peeping through. This is a wonderful warm weather dessert for those hot days when you don’t want to turn the oven on. Just a few ingredients are needed: butter, brown sugar, a box of yellow cake mix, eggs, Vegetable oil, pineapple rings, and cherries.

Slow Cooker Pineapple Upside Down Cake

A lot of people don’t think of cooking desserts in a crock pot. I’ve made both brownies and pecan pie in the crock pot. I like that you have more leeway with the cooking time when using a slow cooker. It’s very hard to burn anything.

Slow Cooker Pineapple Upside Down Cake

This Slow Cooker Pineapple Upside Down Cake takes approximately 2 hours to cook. Spray the bottom of the crock pot well with cooking spray and you shouldn’t have any trouble getting the cake out in one piece. The cake is done when it pulls away from the sides a little and is firm in the middle. Let it cool about 15 minutes and then invert it onto a platter.

Mine only takes about 2 hours to cook, but depending on your crock pot, it could take up to 3 hours.

Slow Cooker Pineapple Upside Down Cake is a very sweet dessert with plenty of pineapple flavor. If you want it with a little less sweetness, cut down some on the brown sugar.

Serve it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a large dollop of whipped cream.

Adjust your cooking time as crock pots vary in size and if not careful you will burn the edges !
We cooked the upside down cake in approx. 2 1/4 hours in a LARGE Crock Pot !!

YOU HAVE PUT THE CROCK POT ON HIGH, MY SETTINGS ARE 200,225,250,300,325,350 AND SO ON. WHAT WOULD YOU SUGGEST I SET MY CROCK POT ON?

  9. Mady says:

I don’t know what happened. I did everything to the letter on this recipe and I ended up with burnered pineapples and cake that isn’t cooked through. Very disappointed. It looked so good. I’m going to guess that this recipe is for a much bigger crock pot than mine and I should have 1/2 the recipe. ๐Ÿ™

    1. Christin Mahrlig says:

So sorry it didn’t turn out well for you Mady. What size crock pot did you use?

      1. Mady says:

        I used a 4 Quarts Crock Pot

Upside Down Pineapple Cake was one of my favorite desserts that my mother made when I grew up. I’ve been wanting to try it in the crockpot, so thank you for the recipe. ?

I just discovered your blog today and couldn’t stop reading. Every recipe looks great, and I love reading about your grandparents and great-grandmother with the chocolate meringue pie. Oh my goodness! That sounds just like me and my grandmother who made the best chocolate meringue pies. Not many people make them anymore – and they’re SO good!!
