I’m sharing #SausageFamily in my life as part of a Johnsonville sponsored series for Socialstars™
This simple and delicious Italian Sausage and Peppers recipe is a breeze to whip up for a family meal. It’s a classic meal that never gets old. Serve it over rice or pasta or stuff it into hoagie rolls for a filling dinner the whole family will enjoy.
Flavorful chunks of Italian sausage are combined with diced tomatoes, garlic, oregano, basil, lots of red and green bell pepper and onion. It’s a comforting meal but light enough to be enjoyed on a warm summer day.
For this Italian Sausage and Peppers recipe I used Johnsonville Natural Italian Sausage. Johnsonville Naturals is a new product line that not only includes Italian Sausage, but 3 flavors of bratwurst too: White Cheddar, Jalapeno Cheddar, and Andouille.
They are perfect for lightening up your summer meals.
Johnsonville Naturals have the great taste you know and love Johnsonville Sausage for, but with a short ingredient list. They have no MSG added, zero grams trans fat, no fillers, and are gluten free.
Not only is this a meal you can feel good about serving your family, but it can be made start to finish in under 30 minutes, making it great for those busy summer days when you glance at the clock and realize it is 5 pm and you haven’t even thought about dinner yet.

This delicious recipe will not disappoint. The only thing I changed was the sausage. I used hot Italian Instead of mild. So good! Making it again for tonight’s dinner.
Awesome! This is now my official sausage & peppers recipe.
This is a great recipe! I’ve made it dozens of times. Chopping the peppers and onions takes time, but putting everything together is pretty easy.! It makes a complete dinner, although instead of putting it on a roll you could put it over rice.
So tasty and so easy to make!!
I’m eating this as I type this comment out .. my husband and I are totally enjoying dinner!! I did add a little more tomato paste, cuz I love it, lol…. And I used Rotel instead of the tomatoes, cuz that’s what we had… I will be making this many more times for us! Thank you.
I used Rotel too. Yummy.
Why am I not seeing what to do with the diced tomatoes and the tomato paste?
In step four it says to add all other ingredients!!!
It was so easy to make,, and it came out great!! Thanku very much for the recipe!! Have a wonderful day.
Step 4 says to add back the sausage and “all other ingredients”.
How many sausages are in a package?
My daughter is a nurse & meal preps every week. This is in her rotation!! We all love it!
Best on a fresh hoagie roll smeared with fresh goat cheese!
So delicious! I tweaked nothing!! Thank you for this gem of a recipe!
