Cajun Crab Stuffed Jalapenos

The slight sweetness of crab pairs wonderfully with jalapenos. Cajun Crab Stuffed Jalapenos make an easy gameday or party appetizer. The filling can be made up to 24 hours in advance and you can even go ahead and stuff the filling into the jalapenos a day in advance. Then you just have to pop them in the oven for 20 to 25 minutes and they are ready to serve. So easy.

Tips For Making

  • Be sure to get the largest jalapenos you can find. You want them to be able to hold a lot of the yummy filling.
  • Unfortunatley store-bought jalapenos can vary a lot in heat from being barely hotter than a bell pepper to being very spicy. There’s really no way to know the heat level until you bite into them.
  • Try to be sure the stuffed jalapenos are level on the baking sheet and not tilted. The filling will ooze out if they are tilted. You can prop them against each other if you need to.
  • I like to use fresh lump crab meat. Don’t waste your money on jumbo lump crab. Save that for crab cakes. Lump crab meat is still very pricey so feel free to use backfin or claw crab meat. Only use canned crab as a last result. It has so little flavor compared to fresh crab.

Jalapenos from Mexico are always hot. If grown in the US they are not, thanks to Texas A&M. I don’t know why anyone would want a jalapeno that is not hot, but there you go. Just find out where the peppers are grown before you buy them.

Fascinating! Didn’t know this. Def prefer standard strength, so I’ll look for Mexican.

Just leave the seeds in if they’re US I guess!

I love these but so many people I know wonโ€™t even try jalapeรฑos that Iโ€™ve made them with the small colored peppers. They look amazing and taste delicious but without the spice for those people. For me, bring on the heat.

Sounds like a very good and delicious Christmas Day brunch. Can’t wait to make them. Thank you so much!

Great recipe!! I substituted melted Brie for cream cheese, since my boyfriend doesnโ€™t like cream cheese on anything but his bagel, and it was outstanding! A keeper recipe.

    1. Christin Mahrlig says:

      Yum! Brie cheese sounds amazing!

  8. Paula M Garson says:

You can shortcut recipe… More economical also…. Use a spicy crab dip (already made)… Stuff into jalapeno… I would add panko bread crumbs as a topper… Butter on top … Broil till golden brown and crispy!

  9. Humour says:

They need to keep out that bacon. Everyone is not into eating pig.

Just look for anotherโ€™s recipe. There are millions out there. I see a lot of recipes I may not want to make, but I donโ€™t criticize them. The world doesnโ€™t revolve around what you want. Surprise!
