Jalapeno Watermelon Margarita

Fresh, sweet watermelon puree, lime juice, Triple Sec, and jalapeno-infused tequila make these Jalapeno Watermelon Margaritas super summery and delightful.

Jalapeno Watermelon Margarita

Infusing liquor with hot peppers is a must try for any lover of heat. The combination of sweet, salty, and spicy will wake up your taste buds and make them say- Let’s get this weekend started!

Jalapeno Watermelon Margarita

My automatic response to anything my kids ask me to do is – Write it on a piece of paper and put it on the kitchen counter.

Otherwise there’s just no chance it’s getting done. I can’t seem to remember anything anymore.

Jalapeno Watermelon Margarita

There are too many thoughts and ideas darting around in my mind, colliding with each other. It’s like my mind has turned into one of those pinball machines.

So I make endless lists. And then I forget where I put them.

Jalapeno Watermelon Margarita

I was so focused on making these Jalapeno Watermelon Margaritas look pretty in a hurry because I wanted to take pictures of them outside and it was a bazillion degrees, so I figured I had about 3 minutes before all the ice melted.

And I forgot to coat the rims of the glasses with salt.

Jalapeno Watermelon Margaritas

That just can’t happen with Margaritas y’all.

Jalapeno Watermelon Margaritas

Especially watermelon margaritas. Salt does something magical to watermelon. It really makes it come alive.

But luckily they were still delicious. And they were plenty strong.

After a few sips, everything was right in the world again. Fears of having to be sent away to a home for people with early dementia slipped away.

Memory problem. What memory problem?

Jalapeno Watermelon Margaritas

You’ve probably noticed that the heat of jalapeno peppers can vary. A LOT. Like from so mild you think it’s just a bell pepper in the shape of a jalapeno, to somebody call the fire department. Depending on the heat of your jalapeno, you may want to infuse the tequila for just an hour or up to a full day. The best way to decide is to stick your pinky finger in every so often and take a little taste.

Jalapeno Watermelon Margarita

Sweet and spicy margaritas made with fresh watermelon puree, lime juice, Triple Sec, and jalapeno-infused tequila
PREP: 1 hour 10 minutes

  • 1 jalapeno, thinly sliced
  • 3/4 cup white tequila
  • 8-10 cups watermelon chunks, a large dice
  • 1/2 cup fresh lime juice
  • 1/3 cup Triple Sec
  • 1/4 cup simple syrup
  • salt, chili powder, and lime juice for salting rims of glasses

  • Place tequila and about 4 slices of jalapeno in a glass measuring cup and place in the refrigerator for 1 to 4 hours depending on how spicy your jalapenos are and how spicy you want the tequila to be. Take a taste after 1 hour and decide whether it is spicy enough. If so, remove jalapenos.
  • Place watermelon (you may need to do it in batches) in a blender and blend until liquified.
  • Pour watermelon through a fine-meshed strainer, pressing on it with the back of a spoon to get all the liquid through. Measure out 3 cups of watermelon juice.
  • In a large pitcher, combine the 3 cups watermelon juice, tequila, lime juice, Triple Sec, and simple syrup.
  • Place salt with a little chili powder mixed in on a plate. Coat rims of 4 glasses with lime juice and dip in salt mixture.
  • Fill the glasses with ice and pour Margaritas into glasses. Garnish with lime slices and jalapeno slices if desired.

To make a simple syrup, combine equal parts sugar in water in a small saucepan and heat over medium heat, stirring frequently until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and cool. Can be stored in refrigerator for future use.

My world is forever covered in post its >_< Otherwise I can't remember anything lol. My apartment looks like a crazy conspiracy theorist lives there (who conspires about cupcakes!). I am seriously digging this margarita though! My bf loves all things spicy, so I will have to whip these up for us before summer ends for sure.

These look amazing, even without the salt. Don’t you hate the rush of trying to photograph when it’s like 100000 degrees? My mom had been salting our watermelon for years before she admitted to it. But you’re right…salt changes the watermelon game πŸ™‚

I enjoy a good strong cocktail. This reminds me of one made with a vinegar shrub. It had a bit of a tangy spicy kick to it too.

I’m a the same way. My kids ask for something I immediately say write it down or I’ll forget. My husband need to me to call the computer shop for him. I didn’t write it down, he asked for 3 days straight if I had called. Finally, I wrote it down and remembered to make the call. I so need to slow down. This margarita would be a great start too. Love the idea of infusing the tequila! I have a little watermelon left, probably enough to give this a try πŸ˜€

Have you had enough rain yet? I think it started here on Wednesday and has rained all week, on and off yesterday but WYFF4 said we had gotten 3.5 inches and we have a high chance of rain all weekend.

Even though we have set the summers aside for a while since its monsoon here, yet I almost felt like grabbing a glass full straight off the screen.

I make lists merely to prioritize my thoughts, because yeah they are all running around like a bunch of 2 yr olds on a sugar high. So if I can’t find my list, it’s okay they did their job. And if I do—WooWhoo. I would make this merely for the looks of them if nothing else. They are so dang exotic looking that is uplifting right there.

  18. Karen @ Lushoius Eats

These need to be made this weekend!! They look incredible and I love the watermelon jalapeno combo! Such an awesome drink idea! Luckily, I’m going into a long weekend this weekend so I’ll have an extra day to drink πŸ˜‰ Cheers!!
