Fresh lemonade is a must for summer and this Kentucky Bourbon Lemonade is something I look forward to making when the dog days of summer arrive. It's a refreshing southern cocktail that combines the tartness of lemons with the smooth, rich flavor of bourbon.
Place the granulated sugar, water, and mint leaves in a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer for 2 minutes and then remove from heat and let steep for 15 minutes.Pour through a strainer set over a glass measuring cup or bowl and press on the mint leaves with the back of a spoon to get all the liquid out.Refrigerate until needed.
In a pitcher stir together the simple syrup, lemon juice, and bourbon.Add ginger ale just before ready to serve.
Fill glasses with ice and then fill with lemonade. Garnish with mint.
