Hot Bacon Dressing
A simple salad with spinach leaves, mushrooms, and red onion becomes worthy of a special occasion when topped with old-fashioned Hot Bacon Dressing. So sweet and salty with tons of bacon flavor and a little tang. Totally crave-worthy.

Ingredients
- 8 slices bacon diced
- 1/4 cup finely diced Vidalia onion or other sweet onion
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Cook diced bacon until crisp. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel-lined plate. Remove all but 2 tablespoons bacon grease from pan.
- Add vidalia onion to pan and cook until softened.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together sugar, cornstarch, and salt. Whisk in water and apple cider vinegar.
- Pour into pan and return bacon to pan. Add pepper. Cook and whisk until thickened some, about 2 minutes. (It will tend to thicken more as it cools.)
Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
You can use any type of bacon for this recipe.
