Strawberry Amaretto Trifle- pieces of Angel Food Cake, an amaretto cream cheese mixture and macerated strawberries are layered in a trifle bowl and topped with toasted almonds. Makes a delicious spring and summer dessert and the presentation is absolutely gorgeous.
Combine the strawberries, granulated sugar, and 3 tablespoons Amaretto in a medium bowl. Set aside.
In a large bowl, beat cream cheese with a hand-held electric mixer until smooth and creamy.
Add sour cream, powdered sugar, Amaretto, and vanilla and mix until smooth. Fold in half of the Cool Whip.
Layer 1/3 of Angel food cake pieces in the bottom of a trifle bowl. Top with 1/3 of strawberries and 1/2 of cream cheese mixture.
Layer another 1/3 of cake pieces, and another third of strawberries and the rest of the cream cheese mixture. Do one more layer of cake pieces and 1 more strawberry layer (save a few strawberries for the top.). Top with remaining Cool Whip.When you do the last strawberry layer, be sure to pour all the liquid in the bowl on top of the strawberries.
Sprinkle almond slices on top. Chill until ready to serve.
