  • 1 (1/4-ounce) package active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water (110 to 115 degrees)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 cups warm whole milk (110 to 115 degrees)
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • Place yeast in a large bowl. Add water and sugar and stir to combine. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  • Add the milk, butter, and eggs. Mix well.
  • Add the flour and salt and stir until mixed. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  • Stir the batter. Add baking soda and stir well.
  • Cook waffles according to waffle maker's instructions.

The number of waffles you get from this recipe is dependent on the size and style of your waffle makes. I get about 6 large waffles.
Make sure your water and milk are not hotter than 115 degrees or you will kill the yeast.
