Nutella Gooey Butter Cake

Nutella Gooey Butter Cake is made with a Devil's Food Cake mix topped with a gooey cream cheese layer flavored with lots of Nutella. It's wonderfully dense and chocolatey. Topped with whipped cream it makes a fantastic potluck dessert.

  • 1 package Devil's Food Cake Mix
  • 1 large egg
  • 8 tablespoons melted butter


  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup Nutella
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 8 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 (16-ounce) box powdered sugar


  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Using an electric mixer, beat the cake mix, 1 egg, and 8 tablespoons melted butter until mixed well. Press mixture into bottom of prepared pan.
  • Make the filling. Beat Nutella and cream cheese until smooth.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time. 
  • Beat in vanilla and butter.
  • Add the powdered sugar and mix well.
  • Spread mixture over cake batter. Bake 40 to 50 minutes. Do not overbake. It should be gooey in the middle.
