Ingredients
2poundsground beef
1mediumonion,diced
2green bell peppers,diced
1(15-ounce)can tomato sauce
1(28-ounce) candiced tomatoes,undrained
2beef bouillon cubes
2cupswater
3tablespoonspacked brown sugar
2teaspoonssalt
1teaspoonblack pepper
1/2teaspoondried basil
1/4teaspoondried thyme
2cupscooked white rice
Instructions
Brown the beef in a Dutch oven. Drain the fat off.
Add the onion and green peppers to the Dutch oven and cook until starting to soften, about 3 to 5 minutes.
Add remaining ingredients, except rice.
Simmer for 30 minutes.
Stir in rice and serve.
Notes
If you want to make your soup spicy, try adding 2 finely diced jalapeno peppers with the bell pepper. Or you can add a teaspoon of hot sauce.
