  1. Like most the people here ask. If I add a Hershey bar and use beef instead, but throw it on the grill, will it taste the same? Otherwise I’ve followed the recipe and it came out perfect.

  2. I only had turkey gravy and mushroom gravy and mushroom soup, boneless skinless chicken thighs about 3 lbs and added carrots and green pepper at the end. Server over Sarah’s rice pilaf from all recipes site.
    Thank you Christin!

    1. No, it doesn’t have to be thawed. I used chicken breasts that were mostly frozen because they’re easier to clean and trim off unwanted fat. The only thing I did differently was to cut each breadt in half. It also makes better sized pieces after shredding. One other thing I changed was adding diced celery. It adds a subtle flavor that gives it that cozy, comfort food flavor.

  3. Delicious and easy meal that my whole family enjoyed. Other than adding some red pepper (we like spicy) we stuck to the recipe.

  4. this is like the shortcut to homemade chicken n biscuits! I love it! we just throw the biscuits on top of mashed potatoes then load on the yummmy chicken n gravy and no one knows the difference here! 🙂

  5. I was a bit skeptical at first, but I added some garlic salt. And it really set the dish off. My family love this meal. I just say yes.

  6. I am so excited to taste this recipe. My crock pot is cooking now and it smells delicious 😍. I even added a touch of my own creamy Alfredo sauce. I am not normally a gravy girl so I added my own touch. I am excited for some creamy chicken. Thank you, this is now my go to recipe for shredded chicken.

  7. Thank you for easy “stick your ribs” recipe. Very flavorful dish, perfect hot meal for a chilly night here in western WA . I did serve over rice, but I think my many leftovers will go good into a stovetop stuffing casserole for next night dinner! All other reviewers are correct gravy is thin but isn’t going to stop me from sharing or saving this recipe.

  8. i don’t do gravy meals too often, but want to make this, does the gravy thicken somehow or does it stay that watery?

  9. To the lady who said this was bland learn to season your food!!
This was delicious! I used Herbs De Provence, garlic powder, salt n pepper to taste and my whole family loved it. I will definitely be making this again.

  10. Can I cook the chicken ahead of time and put it in the crockpot after ? I’m doubling the recipe. If I do cook the chicken first how long in the crockpot will I have to cook it !

  11. For my family size I’d need to double the recipe and possibly cook on high. Any idea how long to cook for high (double recipe)? If cooked on low but doubled would the time be the same? Also, what are your thoughts of adding carrots, celery and onions in the beginning?

    1. I would say about the same time maybe add an hour or so to be safe and I was thinking the same thing about adding veggies. Idk about celery or onions unless you wanna go for a soup kinda meal but definitely could get away with adding carrots I think.

  12. Made this and definitely loved it! I seasoned and seared my chicken breasts before putting them in the croc pot. It’s always beast to sear all meats first for these types of recipes. Added finely chopped onions and mushrooms also. And you DEFINITELY need to season to your family’s preferred taste. As for the sodium, use low sodium products.

  13. Overall very good , I felt it was bland so I added herbs at the end .. just some Italian spices , salt , pepper , bay leaf and a good amount of garlic . My opinion , they should revise and say add more seasoning as desired especially for people who don’t cook .. love the added sour cream !!!! Great meal !!

  14. Love this I have made it a few times now and my kids love it. We live in Hawaii and perfect recipe for comfort food on rainy days.

  15. Absolutely wonderful! I used a little corn starch to thicken the gravy and added mixed peas, carrots and corn once done. My kids loved it and it was so simple! Will make again!

  16. I used cream of celery for 2 reasons. One I was out of cream of chicken and to add some flavor variety. I also added fresh carrots, garlic and onion first and cooked an hour before adding chicken because my crockpot always cooks chicken fast even on low and I’m left with crunchy veggies.

  17. This is the first thing I’ve ever made with my crock pot and it is AMAZING. Took less than 10 minutes to set up and it was ready by the time I got out of work. I accidentally forgot to put the sour cream but it’s amazing as is. Definitely making this again and going to try with the sour cream next time.

  18. So I made this for dinner today and it turned out pretty well. Next time I’ll have to add more chicken, and for some reason the gravy never really thickened up like I wanted it to. Any advice on how to fix that? It tasted really good, those were my only issues with this recipe.

    1. Have u ever heard of Wondra it’s a gravy thickener… let’s just say it works really well for perfect consistency

  19. Excellent! Excellent dish. I used low sodium cream of chicken. The dish turnt out great. My children loved it. I will use this recipe again.

  20. SO good! I just put the ingredients in the pot, stir it up, toss in the chicken and 6 hours later, dinner is done. I serve it over riced cauliflower with salad or another veggie. Chicken just falls apart. Making it for the second time today.

  21. Since we are remodeling, we don’t have a real kitchen.. I appreciated that it made our TV room/garage smell great for hours and was SO easy.. served over white rice. The family ate it up!

  22. I will 100% make this again. VERY good and VERY easy.

I used cauliflower rice (first time ever) I think this would have been even better with regular rice.

  23. This was easy enough and the kids loved it. I used low sodium cream of chicken and low sodium gravy packets. I also used a mix of boneless chicken thigh and breast.

  24. Made this tonight. Flavor was there. Definitely needs for chicken for my liking. Will make again but may double up on chicken next time.

  25. This recipe sounds yummy & easy to make! However, I agree that using cream of chicken has ‘lots’ of sodium. Could you use ckn broth instead? I hope so? When I make this, I’ll be adding diced carrots.

      1. What if you used low sodium soup and lower sodium gravy mixes. That would definitely lower that sodium count

          1. I made a gluten free version of this. I made gravy using 2 cups chicken broth, 1/4 cup corn starch & 1/4 cup of butter in a saucepan on med heat til boiling. Then I put that in the crock pot with gluten free cream of ckn soup and the pepper and garlic. It’s cooking now so I will update with how it is after we eat it tonight 🙂
